Conachcraig

My first hill walk with brother-in-law Dave in May. A gorgeous day with mostly clear skies and a light breeze. Thankfully Dave advised the shorter route of 14km as opposed to the full 24km traverse everyone else in the club was taking....
This first pic was taken on the way down from the top of Conachcairn (about 800m) and the first point in about 5 hours that I have had the strength to lift the camera to my eye... you'll note there's no photos from the top... I was too wobbly. Downhill is fine! Uphill and particularly scrambling through marshy peat and heather is.... torture and a real test of my fitness and stamina which proved sorely lacking. The retired couple that we hooked up with had to stop and wait for me every 15 mins and I am so grateful to them and Dave for their patience and encouragement... otherwise I would never have got to the top and the view was... spectacular! Blisters and aching legs at the end but I still feel lucky!
